This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My ESE students are amazing! They want to learn everything that I teach them and more. These learners' brains are different, so they need enticing materials that address their special needs. Most of them have been retained at least once. Sometimes, this is their second time repeating a grade, and my goal is to help them grow by leaps and bounds.
These kids have learning disabilities, so sitting in a chair at their desk all day is difficult and uncomfortable.
They want to move around, change position, and have the option to sit elsewhere.
Flexible seating such as floor cushions allow kids to sit on the floor comfortably. The floor is very cold, and the cushions provide a soft, cozy spot to sit on. Chair bands attach to the legs of the chairs so that when kids have to sit at their seats and get fidgety they can push and pull on the bands allowing them to release energy.
Headphones allow students to take their device to a floor cushion in order to be comfortable while completing their technology work. We all like to move around and change seating and kids do too!
The ultimate goal is to improve motivation, attention, and focus. By providing choices for children to move around the classroom to a place where they are comfortable encourages them to complete their assignments.
