My Students
My students are excited, motivated, talented individuals who know technology is the way of the future. We focus on bringing real-life situations into the classroom to help them prepare for life on their own when they go to college. Many students care for their families by working or taking care of younger siblings, and my classes give them skills they need to be successful at home with their families as well as when they live life on their own.
My students come from all walks of life and are eager to learn Life Skills that will help them in the real world.
Our school in nestled in the northwest corner of Louisiana and we pride ourselves on our family and community focus. As a first year teacher, I could not have asked for a more wonderful group of students to work with!
My Project
In our Food and Nutrition class, students have done an amazing job this semester with learning how to share materials and make quick and easy recipes. They have asked that next semester they be allowed to learn how to bake more complicated recipes and I am so excited that they are eager to learn more techniques in the kitchen! However, with that comes added expenses and new materials.
We are asking for a new classroom set of fluted bundt pans, new steel measuring cups, and spoon sets, as well as new plastic pitchers in order to begin updates in our kitchens.
We are excited to begin expanding our toolset and replacing the older, plastic measuring tools that have become warped and inaccurate over time with the new, metal tools that will last much longer and give much more accurate measurements with our foods! We are asking for new drink pitches so that we have a classroom set and each kitchen will be able to add drinks to their menu without having to share pitchers between kitchens.
