Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 10th–12th grade students at a Title I school with a wonderfully diverse student body that includes English language learners, gifted students, and everyone in between. What I love most about my students is their deep curiosity about the world around them. They ask big questions, seek connection, and are eager to understand different cultures, experiences, and perspectives.
In our new World Humanities class, I want students to see themselves reflected in the arts—literature, music, visual expression—and also to explore voices and stories from across the globe.
These books will support both our robust independent reading program and classroom learning by giving students access to powerful texts that enrich their understanding of the humanities. Your support will help me continue to build a classroom library that reflects the world’s richness and encourages students to think critically, empathetically, and creatively.
