Culture, Reading, Adventure...Falling in Love With Books

My Students

I feel so lucky that I get to share my days with this amazing group of 4th graders. These students are bright and inquisitive. They are brave and willing to make mistakes knowing that in the process they are learning.

Every day, my students push themselves to be creative doers, problem solvers, and critical thinkers.

They are fun to be around and I learn something new from them each day. They take care of each other, just like family. They are kind and become each other's cheerleaders.

My Project

I have requested clay and an assortment of books. My classroom library needs a facelift. Many of our books have been loved to pieces and need to be replaced. My students love to read and hunger for new genres and the variety that these books would give. My 4th grade students also learn about the history of our state. Native Americans play a large part in that history. We have books in our classroom that need to be replaced.

Our Native American read aloud picture books need to be replaced with those that are culturally sensitive and correct in the retelling of their history.
