Language is culture and to truly love a language, you have to understand and love the culture, too. I want resources in my classroom for students to learn about culture without solely relying on the Internet.
The scholars at my school in Colorado are interested in learning, creating, and inspiring.
Our school is located in a diverse, urban neighborhood and was built in 1922. The students enjoy projects which make them think critically and allow their personalities to shine through. They are wonderful students who deserve the best resources I can offer them.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of books about Spanish speaking countries. These books include overviews of Central and South America, maps, travel books, and more. The books will be a part of my classroom library so that my students can do research about countries without stepping out of my classroom! These resources will help my students to learn more about the Spanish speaking world and the diverse cultures.
This project is so important because I want to inspire my students to learn about the world.
Learning about the many cultures of Spanish speaking countries sparked my love of Spanish, and I hope to pass that inspiration on to my students!
