Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school serves a dynamic Latinx student population. Our students are incredibly thoughtful, respectful, and hard-working despite the challenges they face in their lives outside of school. Many of our students are Dreamers and first-generation Americans. We, like schools across America during the pandemic, are struggling to offer students incredible experiences due to the constraints of educational budgets.

My Project

The past two years have been wearing on students and staff alike, and we are wanting more tools to connect students, create authentic opportunities to laugh, work together, and practice spacial thinking skills.

With the recent surge of the Omicron variant, basic games and activities allow students to work together, reduce their stress stress levels, and have a greater sense of belonging at school.

In normal districts, there is sufficient funding for games and activities, but we have no budget for it, and our students deserve these small joys in their day - lunch, before school, advisory, and after school programs to interact with one another - and spend less time in front of screens.
