My Students
I teach in a beautifully culturally diverse Title I School. I have 25 students who adore learning. These students are happy to be at school, even without all of the supplies they need. They work together, problem-solve and share to make sure that everyone gets what they need. I want to give these students every opportunity to explore their potential, and to access high paying careers. I believe these students should also have a classroom full of materials that reflect them, their culture and their interests.
My Project
It's another year in Ms. Reka's 4th grade class, and with a new year comes a need for new, culturally responsive reading material! Help foster a love for reading by providing a culturally responsive classroom library, adding high interest books and graphic novels to my classroom library, adding diverse read alouds to my collection of books that celebrate the culture and heritage of my students, and adding appropriate learning resources to access Common Core ELA standards.
Help my deserving students to not only see characters like them in their reading, but to have access to the books they have chosen and adore.
