My Students
I teach in a beautifully culturally diverse Title I School. I have 27 students who adore learning. These students are happy to be at school, even without all of the supplies they need. They work together, problem-solve and share to make sure that everyone gets what they need. I want to give these students every opportunity to explore their potential, and to access high paying careers. I believe these students should also have a classroom full of materials that reflect them, their culture and their interests.
My Project
Help foster a love for reading by 1. Providing a culturally responsive classroom library 2. Adding high interest books and graphic novels to my classroom library 3. Adding diverse read alouds to my collection of books that celebrate the culture and heritage of my students and 4. Adding appropriate learning resources to access Common Core ELA standards.
When students see themselves in their classroom they are more motivated to learn and grow.
