My Project

The books in this project have been thoughtfully selected to represent the diverse student population in my classroom. I have a classroom filled with young readers who love to cultivate knowledge through literature.

Students deserve to see their cultures, values, and interests represented in the classroom library.

I must highlight the importance of diversity so that my students can feel proud of their cultural backgrounds, ambitions, and most importantly who they are as individuals.

The goal of this project is to replace the outdated, dominant-culture-related texts that have occupied the classroom library shelves for far too long with culturally responsive books that celebrate a variety of cultures.
