Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am currently working as a Math Instructional Coach and will use the gift cards requested to purchase lessons that are culturally relevant to the students I work with. The majority of the students I work with are African-American or Hispanic and their families come from a variety of states and countries.
Children are more engaged in learning when they are learning about themselves.
Most math textbooks do not address the need for students to make a cultural connection to what they are learning. Material will be used digitally and in print form.
