Culturally Diverse Books Needed for a Culturally Diverse Classroom!
Help me give my students books that reflect their diverse backgrounds! These culturally relevant books will help students connect more with what they read as well as make learning more appropriate and effective for them.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My mission every year is to teach the knowledge and skills, nurture the confidence and character, and inspire the passion needed for students to achieve their goals, excel in the competitive world, and positively impact the community. My students come from our diverse community, with over 60% qualifying for free/reduced lunch.
As 82% of my students are children of color, I feel responsible to promote a culturally responsive curriculum.
Unfortunately, the reality is that many of the resources in our classroom today do not reflect who our students are. My students deserve the opportunity to interact with texts that inspire them and also introduce them to heroes and characters who look like them. This will help motivate them to also reach their full potential as they prove what is possible in their futures.
My Project
These diverse books will be included in our classroom library and some will be read aloud to promote discussion of pertinent themes and social issues. My hope is that these books help promote respect and empathy for all types of people. Providing these culturally relevant resources to our classroom is a big part of ensuring that our students are receiving an equitable education!
All students deserve to see themselves in books, to relate to the characters.
Students who are not alway exposed to people different from themselves have the chance to learn through books and understand that while we may appear to have many differences, we still really truly do have much more in common.
