Hello! I am so excited to be a part of a new elementary school in the Lewiston area. Having grown up in Maine, I'm thrilled to be able to give back. Before teaching here, I spent many years as an ed tech in the school system. The mix of cultures, the low income households, and the mixed families that make up our school bring my heart alive. My students are not always easy - they do keep me on my toes through strong personalities, cultural diversity and extreme differences in academic standings - but they are so ready to learn and love being at school. I want to give them the world, and hope to start with our help.
My Project
My students come from culturally diverse backgrounds. Most are refugees, and do not connect to my current classroom library. I had the chance to preview the Sadiq and Yasmin books, and they made me smile. I know my students will connect to the stories, and hopefully begin to enjoy reading.
The fidgets in my room have been breaking or disappearing.
I would love to replenish my supply, because my students focus much better with them. The fidgets help them keep their busy bodies calm so they can focus on the lessons and do their best work. We would really appreciate any and all support you can give!
