Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a Spanish High School teacher and have been teaching for 10 years. Our school has limited computer usage and many computers do not work so students do not have access to the internet.

It is often difficult to teach cultural lessons with limited resoources. Students always want to be taken to the computer room to do research, to use the dictionary, to play spanish games and to see the many cultures of Spanish speaking countries but priority is given to Math and English teachers. F.L teachers do not get this opportunity which is very unfair for my students.

Having a netbook (small laptop) will allow me to conduct lessons where my students can learn about famous painters, politicians, and many famous Hispanics that have me contributions to our society. It is essential for young adolescents to learn more about their cultures as well as others which will benefit them in college. The internet can bring tremendous resources such as online dictionaries, listening to Spanish radio stations and listening to different Spanish dialects. Students love technology and this is a lesson that I often can't bring to the classroom. Students can also use the netbook to do powerpoint and presentations, this skills will benefit them in college.

You will make it possible for my students to have a better undestanding of the different cultural aspects of the Spanish language. Their internet experience will help those students who are visual learners and those who love learning about culture.
