My Project

Mythology and folklore is an open gateway to exploring the diverse cultures spread throughout our world. Not only are the stories themselves exciting and vibrant, often full of quests and adventures, but what stories a culture tells and how they tell them gives insight into their values and history in a unique way that can be more meaningful and a lot more fun than a traditional history text. But admittedly, my mythology section is an often ignored part of the nonfiction.

But what doesn't get ignored?

A beautiful and diverse graphic novel set of fables and folktales that my students adore! It's consistently checked out, read again and again-but there are only so many books in that series and they want more! More books, more cultures, more myths, and I've put together this list of graphic novels that adds a wider variety of tales touching on even more parts of our world and it's history.

My hope is these books will spark a genuine curiosity to learn about the world around them and its many people while building up a love of reading that for many students is either cemented or starts to disappear around this age. Your donation would do so much!
