My Project

Nestled in the unique and spirited community of rural Alaska, our school is home to remarkable Alaska Native students. These young learners bring an incredible depth of cultural heritage into the classroom every day, which shapes their learning in various ways. Our students are not only recipients of knowledge, but active participants in a learning journey that honors their past while embracing the future.

Imagine stepping back in time through the history of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, where each touch on a Promethean Board opens a window to environmental transformations, and pivotal cultural events.

These state-of-the-art interactive displays will allow our students to engage with the curriculum in ways that are not possible with laptops alone. For example, in history classes, the boards will enable students to explore and interact with the history of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta through immersive projects.

The Promethean Boards will also enhance our Language Arts curriculum. Students can collaboratively analyze texts, participate in interactive story mapping, and create multimedia presentations that weave together their storytelling traditions with new digital skills. This blend of visual and textual learning will cater to different learning styles, ensuring that each student can thrive.

The primary goal of this project is to create a more interactive and visually engaging learning environment that respects and reflects the unique cultural backgrounds of our students. By integrating Promethean Boards into our classroom, we aim to provide our students with the tools to allow access in a digitally interconnected world, ensuring they have equitable access to cutting-edge educational resources.
