My Students

In the words of Dr. Seuss, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." I encourage students to realize the omnipresence of reading in their lives; it's a lifelong skill. If they learn to love reading, it will make it that much easier!

I am looking forward to igniting a passion for reading in all of the students that I welcome into my classroom in September!

However, our classroom library is missing many of the books and series that I know they will love to read! I would love for them to feel ownership over the classroom library and to reflect them as readers. If it does, I am confident that they will be even more inspired to read than they already are!

My Project

I am excited this year to be switching grade levels and teaching fifth grade! I will be hard at work this summer to ensure that I secure all of the necessary materials to ensure my students' success this year. With that being said, I have hit the ground running to amass as many books as possible that will motivate and inspire my students to read!

Research shows that one of the most important elements of any student's education is a well-stocked classroom library.

In fact, "students in classrooms with high-quality classroom libraries read 50 percent more than students who do not have access to a library in the classroom" (Fleming & Elias, 2009). I am determined to provide this to my students and to do whatever it takes to cultivate a classroom of effective and enthusiastic readers.
