This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are beautiful human beings who are compassionate, empathetic, and creative but they need daily reminders of their greatness!

Even the most confident kids need daily reminders of all they can become in this world and all that they already are.

As hard as we try to update and refresh our bulletin boards, hallways, and classrooms, the expenses do add up and sometimes we are left with the same posters, quotes, and affirmations for weeks or months at a time. A vinyl cutting machine will help me be able to keep things interesting and new so that when kids walk into the classroom each week, they'll be met with new affirmations that will challenge them, inspire them, and encourage them. I have the perfect spot for the machine, and I already have kids writing their own affirmations, now all we need is this tool to help us make them!

We will also use the machine to make visual arts displays for our Unapologetically Black Media Studies course for our 8th graders. Each month these leaders get to recreate their bulletin board illustrating what they have learned about social activist leaders from the past and present. Our bulletin boards need a breath of fresh air.
