This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are seeking funding to expand our school’s student-led garden project, which will directly benefit our school community. Our students will take the lead in planning, planting, and maintaining our garden space. The produce and flowers grown will be shared with school staff, students, and families.
The entire school community, including students from other grades and school staff, will enjoy fresh produce and participate in garden events.
Additionally, the surrounding neighborhood will benefit from our produce donations, providing fresh, healthy food to families in our school community. We aim to foster connections between our school and the broader community, helping both groups thrive.
We are requesting funds for garden supplies such as soil, raised garden beds, and tools. These materials will empower students to take ownership of the garden expansion and give them hands-on experience in gardening, teamwork, and community service. By expanding the garden, students will be able to increase the volume of food grown and shared, making a larger impact both within the school and in our neighborhood.
This project will teach students valuable skills while creating a lasting positive impact on our community.
