This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
High school students need positive reinforcement for their efforts, achievements, and admirable behaviors in the classroom. They also need access to books and supplies that promote growth mindset and mental well-being. My project includes items that will be awarded to students as they demonstrate desirable efforts and behaviors in the classroom, such as demonstrating a growth mindset (revising an assignment, working through difficult tasks), helping others, and being kind. When students win an award for these behaviors, they will get to choose items such as books and stickers that promote mental health and personal care supplies that also promote mental well-being as well as the joy of being rewarded with positive consequences. I will also be able to provide any student who could benefit from one of the mental health books the ability to choose one to keep if they would like to. I believe we should bring joy and fun into our classrooms as much as possible in order to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
