Ms. Nix-Miller from Bronx NY is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students concrete opportunities to engage in the engineer and design process. Items like Story Tales and STEAM Park allow young students to refine their fine motor skills, while tapping into innovative practices.

My scholars are smart, creative, and outspoken learners. They love the idea of engineering, even if they don't all completely understand, that is what they are indeed doing. They often use common materials found within the schools STEAM Lab, as well as, common materials found at home to engage in the engineer and design process. They are excited about learning and enjoy working collaboratively to brainstorm solutions to problems presented within their standard based pbl units.
Their curiosity and innovative spirit, really emphasizes the need to push them forward on a different level.
They have the ability to do so much more with the proper tools. They express the desire to be architects, astronauts, and scientist, and I believe they can be these things with a strong academic foundation. My scholars are dynamic and enthusiastic about learning.
My scholars come in ready to display the ideas in their minds. It is often challenging for young students to commit their ideas to blueprints or prototypes that go beyond being two dimensional. With the items I am requesting from LEGO Education, my scholars have an opportunity to showcase their ideas and experiences in a three dimensional world. My scholars will have a sustainable way to plan, create, and improve solutions they come up with based on their standard based PBL units. They will cultivate skills that allow the to be work collaboratively, yet retain autonomy.
