My Project

I am excited to launch a special DonorsChoose project focused on teaching compassion to 21 bright and eager kindergarten students. Our goal is to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment that fosters empathy, kindness, and understanding.

Learning about compassion helps students develop positive relationships, empathy, and self-awareness.

With the aid of multicultural hand puppets, TPT resources, and engaging storybooks like "A Little SPOT of Feelings" and "A Little SPOT ABC's," students will immerse themselves in narratives that explore diverse emotions, perspectives, and experiences. Through puppetry and interactive storytelling, students will learn to empathize with characters and develop a deeper understanding of different feelings and cultural backgrounds.

Using art as a medium for expression, students will use Crayola® Washable Watercolors to create artwork inspired by themes of empathy, kindness, and global awareness. Additionally, they will engage in puppet theater shows that address social issues, enabling them to creatively explore ways to alleviate suffering and promote positive change within their community and beyond.

Students' understanding of compassion will be measured through assessment of artwork, reflection and discussion, and observational assessments.
