My Students

I have the privilege of witnessing 6-year-old students becoming global problem solvers daily! My students are dual immersion students who create and solve math and science problems every day all in the Spanish language. The 50 students I get to work with learn half the day with me in Spanish and the other half of the day in English with my partner teacher.

My jaw drops every time one of my native English-speaking six-year-old students explains the steps they took to solve a multi-step math word problem all in Spanish!

These kids are fearless risk-takers who are conquering higher-level thinking skills while learning the Spanish language.

My Project

The first grade classroom should be bursting with excitement for learning! What is more intriguing to young learners than coding robots? I want to help my students learn to problem solve and apply critical thinking skills so they can thrive and contribute to global advancement. It is always a challenge to meet the needs of all 50 of the students I work with. Using Wonder Workshop Dash – Coding Robot for Kids and beginning Sphero robots is the best way to challenge all of my little scientists and engineers and reinforce the growth mindset that students need to tackle an everchanging world.
