Cultivating a Constructive Kindergarten Classroom Community

Help me give my students an engaging and inviting classroom as they begin their first year of school. These materials will help me to provide the children with a classroom that is comfortable, clean, and organized.

My Project

I am working on building an uplifting, encouraging, and inviting classroom community for my kindergarten students. This is my first year teaching in Hawaii and I want to provide the children with a few flexible seating options and fidgets that support and enhance their learning. The storage containers and bins will provide us with the necessary tools to stay efficient and organized and help keep the classroom tidy.

These items will help me to create a nurturing environment that will allow students to feel comfortable, supported, and calm at school.

The sound deck will help to make transitions fun and exciting but most importantly efficient. The bench seat and cushions will provide the children with additional seating options as they read and work on other activities throughout the day. We want our classroom library inviting. By providing my students with flexible seating options and carts they will be able to easily access their learning activities and materials. I hope that these items will help to instill a sense of agency in their learning. These items will allow the children to make decisions on their own and build independence but also still allow them to have fun at school and foster a love for learning!
