My students are a group of diverse learners that thrive off working together in an authentic learning environment. We strive as a class to make learning real and engaging.
My students like to be physically engaged in the learning process.
They are constantly moving to accommodate class and team meetings, debates, presentations, and labs. As middle schoolers, kinesthetic learning is vital to keeping them engaged. They enjoy a flexible environment where creativity is encouraged as they set out to solve real world problems.
My Project
It is my goal to transform my classroom into a flexible space that promotes collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Providing my students with this environment will help foster crucial real-world skills. My classroom is student driven through problem-based learning, allowing my students to take ownership of their own learning. This project will help build upon the variety of workstations offered. This provides choice for my 21st-century learners.
The stackable stools that I am requesting will allow for students to safely move about the classroom.
The students are constantly moving. The stools are easily hidden under tables for safe movement in the room. They also allow ease of movement when transitioning from class meetings to teamwork. If the students need a clear classroom floor, the stools easily stack in the corner. This will allow for a safe, yet flexible space. The wobble chairs will add to the flexible space as an option for students. The unique seating will allow a space for students who need movement while they work. Students will have the option of small movement without distracting the rest of the students. Both of these items will help meet the needs of my diverse learners in a safe, collaborative environment.
