Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I absolutely love the determination, creativity, and passion my students bring to the kitchen every day. They inspire me with their eagerness to learn skills that will prepare them for future careers in the culinary arts. Each resource we’re requesting—commercial-grade equipment, tools, and appliances—will provide them with the opportunity to practice industry-standard techniques in a real-world setting. With these items, they’ll gain hands-on experience that builds confidence and prepares them for certifications and future jobs in the foodservice industry.
The goal of this project is to transform our kitchen into a commercial-grade workspace, allowing students to learn professional-level skills, from food preparation and safety to plating and service.
This experience will not only enhance their technical expertise but also nurture critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
What makes my students special is their resilience and their dreams. Many of them come from diverse backgrounds and face challenges, but they are determined to succeed and make a better future for themselves.
