This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Next year I will be teaching third grade ELA for the first time. We need to move all of our second grade tools out, and start moving in third grade tools. Our classroom needs to be completely redesigned for optimal learning. I've started to get my students used to reading novels and finding a comfy spot in the classroom.

I would love to have a cozy spot for my students to cuddle up with a book and find pleasure and joy in reading.

When a student can enjoy reading they are more likely to continue reading and increase their reading skills. I am asking for a small couch to use for our Independent Reading Center in the classroom. This will be a place where students can lounge with a book. By learning to enjoy reading on a couch at school, students are also more likely to read on a couch at home as well.
