Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach kindergarten in the largest school district within the state of Oklahoma. Most of my 5 and 6 year old children come to my class ready and eager to learn. However, due to the recent pandemic, some may be nervous and apprehensive. Their first exposure to school last year was like none ever before. However, they are little sponges, so very eager to soak up knowledge as fast as we can teach them!
My passion as the first year-long teacher to incoming kindergartners of 2021 is to do my dead-leveled best in making their classroom one that is welcoming, warm and ready for differentiated learning!
My Project
Classroom cubbies allow students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. Currently, my students are constantly reaching in their backpacks placed on their chair for items they need to complete daily tasks. Making sure students’ belongings are separated due to COVID-19 and the spread of other viruses is of utmost importance. Also, teaching the children independence and self-motivation to take care of their items as well as putting them where they belong - is crucial in kindergarten. At this age, children are extremely impressionable and ready to form these habits.
These rolling shelving units are great for students!
