Crystals in the Classroom: Where Learning Shines

Help me give my students crystal making kits so that each of them can grow their own crystals in our classroom.

My Project

My second graders are energetic, curious, and eager to learn about the world around them. They light up when we explore science together, asking questions, making observations, and forming hypotheses just like real scientists. Many of my students come from low-income households and don’t always have access to hands-on science learning outside the classroom. That’s why I work hard to create a space where their natural curiosity can thrive.

Crystal-making brings abstract science concepts to life and helps build foundational knowledge in chemistry and earth science, all while boosting engagement and wonder.


With your support, we’ll bring the excitement of crystal-making into our classroom! I am requesting crystal growing kits that will allow students to observe chemical reactions, explore the scientific method, and learn about solids and solutions in a fun and meaningful way.

Each student will have the opportunity to grow their own crystals, make predictions, observe changes over time, and record their findings like real scientists. This hands-on experiment will not only spark excitement but also build their critical thinking and observation skills.


This project will give my students the opportunity to experience the joy of discovery. For many, it will be their first time doing a real science experiment where they are the scientists. I want them to see that science is not just something in a textbook, it’s something they can do with their own hands. Thank you for helping spark a love of science in my students!
