My students will be working on a lesson where they have to create new animals by using different features from a variety of animals. We would love to have these hands-on cryptid construction kits and stickers to help us be more creative. These kits will help students see different features such as wings, scales, webbed feet, and more that they may want to include in their new animal. Young students often get frustrated when asked to imagine and draw new things if they don't have an example in front of them. These kits will allow them to have hands-on experience to create and alter their creatures many times before they use the stickers and draw the rest of the creature if they want to add features that aren't in the kit. We will use the magnetic trays to create our creatures and then using our iPads take pictures and clips of them explaining their new creature.
They can easily test out different ideas when using the magnets to see if they like what their creature looks like before moving on to using stickers and drawing.
I am sure this will be one of their favorite hands-on activities with the new materials to help them see what they are picturing in their minds.
