Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a special place because it is one of the most diverse schools in our district. Our school mission revolves around accepting diversity. We have used sports to connect our students and have committed to being a healthy campus. In the past year, we have been challenged as a school and community, due to COVID 19, at one of the most diverse schools in the district. Located in West Houston, we have been able to create a proactive P.E. program despite lack of equipment. Rebuilding from the ground up, we have been able to get "back on our feet", but need equipment greatly to continue to intrigue our student's involvement.
Developing and finding unique ways to create success, and targeting the roots of knowledge during the pandemic is the goal for these low income children.
Providing the right resources and learning materials are paramount to the success of new experiences ! Through these times where teachers can only show hope til leadership gets better. We need the community's help to give these children the opportunity to experience life time knowledge that truly saves students!
My Project
Covid has attacked and affected our community like every community in the nation. The goal of this project is to create a way to escape through team sports and create a softball team. We need the gloves, softballs, softball training equipment, and bat to get this dream going. There's no doubt that if we create this escape that we can get students the social interaction that young adolescence need to grow. Along to "piggy back" off social interactions, is the character-building aspect of sports, which ideally builds leadership and work ethic. The project, "Crushing Covid Through Softball!", is a great way to provide these building blocks to adolescent growth.
