This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you climb more than one flight of stairs without getting winded? I want to be sure that my elementary physical education students can.

My students are in kindergarten through fifth grade.

I teach elementary physical education. The school is a large suburban school in an area just short of being urban. The population is diverse. As the district demographics have changed in recent years, our campus mirrors those changes. It is a great challenge to find money to replace equipment as it becomes worn and even more difficult to add new, updated sound equipment.

My Project

Since it is a great challenge to replace worn equipment, this project is an exciting opportunity. The equipment would infuse new excitement into the PE program as students would be thrilled to see and use the spin jammers, hoops, fleece balls, steps, and potato sacks. The technology (sound equipment and camera) will add new opportunities for enhancing the total physical education experience for the students. Having the storage cart, book of noodle games, and bases are added bonuses for my program. The students will be eager to move to the music while using the new equipment to increase their cardio endurance and improve their heart health.

The chance to add this amount of equipment and resources for my pe program is a rare opportunity and comes at a time of high need.
