Crossing STEM and Literacy

My Project

I am a reading teacher and interventionist in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are exceptional, and I love going to school every day to see the sparkle in my students' eyes. I also get to connect with students of various ages during and after school. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students! My students love to read and explore many different topics. They are curious and love to learn! My students are amazing!

Learning how to read is a tough job, so I work hard to keep learning exciting and fun by tying in STEM and science topics.

I am requesting materials like seeds. We will use these in our big hydroponic garden tower. I am also asking for mirrors. These will be very helpful when we study our lips, teeth, and tongue and the various shapes that our mouth makes as we form letter sounds. We will talk about fricatives and glides, and the mirrors will add a hands-on/science approach. I am also requesting a rolling caddy to help us move our science materials around the classroom. Finally, I am asking for an iPad case and screen protector. These will make our Mini iPad usable when doing our various science/literacy activities, especially around water and when moving around the room. We use our iPad to photograph our garden plants and will watch STEM videos about planting, climate, and other science topics.
