This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth grade classroom in Ohio is comprised of approximately forty-two amazing students, many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free breakfast and lunch.
It is important to me they are afforded a classroom environment which promotes learning and well-being.
The learning environment that I hope to create for my students is one that inspires them to succeed and supports them every step of the way. My fourth grade students come to school each day, often times bringing their home lives with them. I spend a great deal of time throughout the year, creating a strong sense of classroom community. My students not only rely on me to support them in their learning and serve as a positive role model in their lives, but they have come to rely on one another through the positive relationships they have formed.
My Project
My students need construction paper, glue sticks, colored pencils, individual posters, passports and bookmaking materials to enhance concepts studied in Social Studies and English Language Arts. The construction paper will be used to make compass roses. The bookmaking kit will be used for drawing and visual journalling. Geography, social studies and history lessons will be brought to life with the passports. The blank passports are perfect for open-ended discovery and for use with resource materials such as maps and books.
They will be encouraged to fill the passports with fun facts, sketches and historical sites.
The student individual posters will provide a space for each student's portrait, artwork, and biography, plus a timeline of his or her life. By donating to our project, you will help students to read, write, and create masterpieces with the art materials!
