This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a middle school located in Elmhurst, Queens, NYC. We started a crochet club for our students after the pandemic to help them release their anxiety through creativity and giving back to the community. In previous years our students have made lap blankets for the local nursing home. They had the honor of walking there and giving the residents the beautiful lap blankets they made with their own hands. A truly amazing experience for our students.

By supporting our project, you will be helping our students get the yarn they need to make lap blankets for the residents at our local nursing home and also baby beanies for our local hospitals.
