This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Beginning in the second semester, I will be launching a Crochet Club for middle school students. Meeting on Fridays, students will learn to knit and crochet while exploring new stitches and patterns each week. This club is designed to create a calm, hands-on environment that supports focus and creativity, strengthens fine motor and manipulative skills, and introduces students to a practical, lifelong craft.

We are a Title I School.

This school is located in East Harlem and serves a population of students with diverse and significant needs, including ADHD and intellectual disabilities. Many of these students benefit greatly from structured, calming, hands-on activities. Funding for this club is essential to create a supportive, inclusive environment that promotes student wellness, reduces screen dependence, and provides access to therapeutic, skill-building materials that many families would otherwise be unable to afford.
