Critical Thinking & Makerspaces

Help me give my students makerspaces such as log builders and blocks and blueprints to develop their critical thinking skills and provide them opportunities to collaborate with other students.

My Students

Our school was founded in 1965 and named after a veteran of a local newspaper. The school was dedicated on September 26, 1965. Our staff of 30+ teachers serve almost 600 students in grades PreK-5. Our clubs include the National Elementary Honors Society, E.Y.E.-Engaging Youth in Engineering, Student Council, and the Good News Club. We participate in an annual food drive for the local Bay Area Food Bank, an annual toy drive for the local Salvation Army Angel Tree, Drug Free Week, Father's Walk Your Child to School Day, the Bullying Awareness Campaign, and the annual United Way coin drive just to name a few.

My Project

These makerspace activities are hands-on activities that will provide my students with exploration opportunities. Makerspace activities will allow my students to be creative as well as develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills. By participating in makerspace centers my students will be able able to collaborate with other children, ask questions and use their imagination. Makerspace activities allow children to create their own knowledge and learn from each other. These makerspace materials will be utilized in centers. Students will be able to rotate to the various stations during their library class time. The centers will be used as age/grade appropriate for students in grades K-5.
