Help me give my students an opportunity to strengthen their critical thinking skills of analysis, trial and error by playing these favorite pastime games we all know and love. This is learning without the pressure of testing.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Expanding the critical thinking analysis of the mind can be a challenge for anyone especially in our high functioning technological society. Everyone is device heavy except on family game night. It's a time to build relationships, work together for a common goal and have fun at the same time. These childhood games were a blast, they caused us to think differently when we approached our turn. Well I'd like to bring those games to the classroom especially on rainy recess days to continue learning in a fun way.
Critical thinking games expand the capacity to see things differently while having fun.
Students love competing, but paper-pencil critical thinking work isn't always appealing. Playing a game of Uno or checkers where you have to concentrate not only on what you do, but what others do as well builds attention span and analytical skills. You have to see beyond the next move to plan accordingly. These games will build students critical thinking skills as well as good sportsmanship.
Who knew a game and some quality time could build, rejuvenate such skills. A teacher with a plan to strengthen these skills through play. I am the one who knows this to be true through trial and error. Please help me continue building these skills through play.
