This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a TK/Kindergarten teacher working at a school in Los Angeles. Although, we have seen positive changes in the neighborhood, the impact to our school and our classrooms has been a slow transition. Our school remains a Title 1 school with most of our students qualifying for reduced-price or free lunch. Most of my students have limited opportunities for creative, engaged learning. My students are an eager, curious, energetic group that will thrive on any enriched opportunity that is presented to them.
My Project
These teaching tools and materials that I am requesting for my students are critical for their academic success during remote learning. The students will using these dry erase lap boards for daily language arts instruction. The students will use the lined side of the dry erase boards during phonics instruction, for letter recognition and letter formation. They will also practice writing letters and words, working on their fine motor skills in their creative writing journals.
The use of the dry erase boards is also an essential component for daily math lessons.
The students will learn, practice and review math skills on their lap boards. They will motivate the students to build math fluency and make learning fun!
