My Project
I work with Setting III students on the autism spectrum. One of my struggles every school year is finding good social skills curriculum. An area where I can been consistently able to find social skills lessons is TeachersPayTeachers, but it is costly, and we all know that teachers spend a great deal of their own money on various classroom items.
With your help, I could teach my students skills such as the following: good communication skills; making and keeping friends; personal space; voice volume; big problems versus small problems; winning/losing; cooperation and working together; and so many other social skills that individuals with autism have challenges with and need to work on for years.
TeachersPayTeachers has these resources.
My students are so special to me. I have had them for two years now and I hope to keep them next year, too, so 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. They are the reason I get up every day and come to work. They are my passion and I strive to teach them these very valuable life skills so that they can be successful adults.
