My Project

Flexible seating has been proven to be beneficial in helping students learn. Students are more likely to focus and pay attention when they are sitting comfortably and in their own designated spaces. While we do have some flexible seating options in my classroom, a new rug would be the perfect addition!

My goal is for students to be comfortable, physically and academically, in my classroom.

If they are happy with their "performances" in my room during their music time with me, they are more likely to choose music courses in the future when they leave the elementary music classroom. While it's important for students to be comfortable, I also want them to spread out and stay in their own space. By having rugs that have circles, it shows students exactly where to sit and helps them stay in their own space when do movement activities.

My students have adapted to the small size of my classroom. However, they do need guidance and direction in regards to staying in their own space. By having rugs with circles already part of the design, students will know where to sit without me having to constantly remind and show them where to sit. This will help us stay focused and on task instead of wasting time redirecting and correcting students.
