My Project
My students are AMAZING! They are creative, kind, and strive for excellence! Like all children, they love interaction and need engagement! We are working on building our social emotional skills which will set them up for success now and in the future. As a school Social Worker at our amazing junior high school I support the low income, Title I diverse population. Our students have changing needs that are not always met with the limited funding our district has available. However, we continue to strive to make the best learning environment. Many of the activities provided in our school is to supporting our students social-emotional needs as well as their academic needs. Through creativity, hands-on experiences, and SEL based lessons, we thrive to teach and reach the entire child. In an effort to create a warm and welcoming positive school climate, we are creating a cheerful environment around the building. Staff and students will use the Cricut maker to create uplifting bulletin boards, door signs, masks and t-shirts. Students will be able to design their own positive climate apparel and/or boards that put emphasis on Kindness, Empathy, Understanding and Respect.
Social and Emotional learning is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions.
They also set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Our school is looking to give our students an opportunity to express their feelings and emotions while enhancing their school environment.
