it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a great bunch. It's always a mix of abilities and personalities. As a teacher, you'll get students who are overachievers, can-doers, and the less than ambitious kind. Regardless of the students' caliber, a teacher always asks the best out of them. This is why teaching art is a great way for all students to show what they can do.
My students come from a community that has one of the highest poverty levels and almost 100% of my students qualify for free or reduced-rate lunches.
I also have a large ESL presence which makes teaching a bit more difficult. My students push through many obstacles and many times endure broken air conditioners and lack of funds for proper materials.
My students are not fancy, overbearing, or have a chip on their shoulders. They have a willingness to try and do their best regardless of their socioeconomic status. My students have a funny way of thinking about things. One example is when students who do remarkably well think their work is subpar. This is when I say their work is beautiful. They disagree and keep working on it and sometimes start over.
My Project
Many times we often make tools for my class. Templates, measuring tools, unusual shapes to trace and repeat. Having this technology in my classroom will help my students make 3D projects and be an amazing resource that can allow my students to create supplemental tools to assist in the precision and accurate application of their skills in my art class.
Having the ability to create custom pieces out of various materials allows for the imaginations of these young people to flourish.
This machine will not only help with a few of the assignments I already do, but it will also make me take my assignments to another level because of the unlimited qualities of this technology.
