This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My sixth graders are imaginative, funny, and fearless about trying new things, especially when they can make something real with their ideas. Many juggle big responsibilities at home, so I look for ways to turn school into a place where their voices are seen and celebrated. When they design a team shirt for a lab, a badge for a reading role, or a banner for a history exhibit, they light up. They collaborate more, take ownership, and cheer for each other’s work. That sense of belonging is everything at this age.

This gives us a safe, even-heat tool so students’ designs come out crisp and durable.

The holographic vinyl turns student art into wearable motivation; team shirts for science labs, “reading ambassador” patches for ELA, and event badges for field trips or exhibitions. The eye-catching finish makes students eager to revise their layouts and typography, perfect for lessons on contrast, hierarchy, and audience.

The Cricut infusible ink markers let students sketch designs that infuse permanently into fabric or tote blanks. We’ll connect to Social Studies by designing unit logos, exhibit labels, and timeline headers; to Science by creating lab-safety icons and data-team logos and to ELA by drafting persuasive slogans. Students will gather peer feedback, revise, and reflect, strengthening writing, visual literacy, and SEL skills like turn-taking and constructive critique.

Success will look like every student completing at least one finished piece they’re proud to wear or display, increased participation in group work, and a classroom filled with student-made signage that tells our story. These tools will be reused across units and years, multiplying the impact of your gift. Thank you for helping my students turn ideas into something they can touch, share, and be proud of.
