My students are sweet and adorable students. Some have, unfortunately, been exposed to some things even adults should not have to be exposed to. Given that, I truly believe that school should be their safe haven and they should have all life has to offer and all that I give them.
Learning is more than just an education for them.
Learning is also building the skills needed to function among each other and in environments with different personalities and experiences. Each day my students are not only learning to read literature and learning to write, but they are also practicing to how to be kind, how to respect, how to talk to each other and most of all how to love and BE loved.
Our school is sometimes limited on resources provided to the teacher. A cricut machine in the classroom will expose students to computer use as well as help fuel their creativity.
I teach at a Title 1 school in an urban setting.
My students will only receive art once a week for only two marking periods. Having a Cricut machine, will allow them to take a break from a traditional classroom, use technology and hold in their hands something they have created. My goal is to get them excited about assignments and also learn a real world trade. It can be used for projects (which many students have trouble completing at home), student-centered classroom decor, stations, and student communication.
A Cricut in the classroom can also be used to create STEM manipulatives for projects. As our school focuses on moving in the direction of STEM, we are limited on resources for projects. A Cricut can be used to make materials for many projects as well as help children develop a deeper hands on experience.
My class is looking forward to all of the many activities.
