Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are vibrant, fun, spectalar and special in their own unique way. They are great lisceners, they are dreamers and they are curious to the world. They are all hands inquisitive and couragious. Since this is their first time in a public school (and even their first time away from their parents) i choose to make school a fun-filled learning environment that they want to run back to each morning. My students seem to love school. I teach in a high poverty stricken area in the Bronx. Most of my students enjoy coming to school because its their only time they get out.

Part of what I do, is exposing them to be independent, self-sufficient leaders of a school community.

I try my best to expose them to language and stories while showing them how to make friends. Some of my students get so engaged in storytime because it takes them to a whole new world. Some of my students dont own books. I try my best to have them visit our school library as much as possible and take them on class trips to our community library.

My Project

Every teacher can use a little extra hand in the classroom! Help me spend less time preparing and more time instructing so that my students can learn hands on. This new wave technology helps cut the time in half for teachers and helps bring creativity to life. Many of my students are English language learners. Most come from single parent homes in which parents work more than one job. I teach in a D.I.N.I schools which stands for Districts In Need of Improvment. My neighborhood in which I work in is one of the high need poverish schools.

By funding this project you are allowing me to put more time into teaching and less time into prepping.

Most students receive free or low cost lunch because of their financial situations. Some live in homes with multiple other families. Most of their at home life expieriences will hinder them in life. From the minute they walk in to my classroom, my main focus is to develop their potential while in my care. I may not be able to control what goes on at home but I can control how they feel and percieve at school.

Besides being English language learners in a poverish neighborhood, most of my students recieve Speech/Language Therapies. This year, I got the idea of using a Cricut in the classroom in order to make books, create incentives and reward students for positive behaviors. They will be able to write stories and create books with the machine to personalize their own work. They will be able to create gifts for others in their free time alongside helping me create one of a kind bulletin boards.
