Cricut Creations Oh My!

My Students

Our school is nestled in the foothills of the mountains of East Tennessee and serves approximately 320 students in grades PreK-8th grade. Almost 75 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions.

They love learning through hands-on and creative challenges that allow them to think outside the box. My students come to the library one day per week and are ready to jump in and learn. When we are not reading, we are building and creating in order to create real world knowledge through makerspaces and STEM and STEAM projects.

My Project

My students are enjoying learning through makerspace and STEM/STEAM projects in our school library. My project will benefit all of the students in our school! The school library used to be a place where students just read books, but now our school library is so much more! Sometimes our library is a makerspace or STEM lab! We "make" things together that always connect to a book we have read, or their content specific curriculum.

A Cricut is a great addition to any Makerspace or STEM classroom!

With the machine, students can create a variety of things or add to things they have already created! For example, students could create advertising projects and create advertising materials for their potential client. They would be able to figure cost of materials and actually create the product. They could also use the Cricut to create posters encouraging kindness throughout the school. Students will be able to utilize the program to understand basic computer animated design and measurements. The possibilities are endless with a Cricut.
