Help me give my students a Cricut EasyPress and accessories so I can help them get excited about economics and entrepreneurship, as well as assist them in becoming financially literate.
I am the teacher of very energetic and remarkable 4th-grade students in a city with the most ethnically diverse neighborhood in our country! Our district has over 48,000 students, encompasses almost 2,000 square miles, and has more than 130 schools and programs. There are over 100 languages spoken by families in our school district.
Each morning my students walk through the door and are greeted with new opportunities to learn and to be successful.
My students are very creative and, as their teacher, I do my best to foster their learning and provide opportunities to grow as individuals. Our classroom is full of eager learners and very hard workers with ethnically and economically diverse backgrounds. Each of my students come from his or her own unique situation and home life. Every single one of my students has strengths to share, as well as room to grow academically, emotionally, and socially. We are a strong and loving classroom community that works together to ensure learning, growth, opportunities, and successes for each other.
My Project
The Cricut EasyPress and accessories I am requesting for part 3 of our project will be used with our Cricut Maker. The EasyPress and accessories will be a wonderful addition to our classroom, as well as the economics unit that I use with my students. Financial literacy skills and employment skills are two necessary skill sets for students to attain in order to achieve success in their lives.
I have a strong desire to increase student interest in economics and entrepreneurship.
I want to teach my students that they can create a job for themselves and others. Students will learn the processes of budgeting, advertising, planning, creating, and producing, in order to help build real-world skills for success. They will learn basic economic concepts by creating their own micro-economy in the classroom while increasing interest in economics and entrepreneurship.
The Cricut EasyPress and accessories will be used with our Cricut Maker and will allow my students the opportunity to build skills through a variety of hands-on learning activities and projects. Students will have opportunities for customizing t-shirts and creating various projects, such as notecards, bookmarks, posters, and gifts to sell during fundraisers. Students will also be able to create items to 'sell' during our economics unit in class. Students will learn how their talents and ideas can lead to creating a successful business.
Thanks to DonorsChoose.org and our many public education supporters, I may be able to offer my students the opportunity to utilize these materials to enhance their understanding of financial literacy. Learning about finance, how businesses work, needs versus wants, saving, goal setting, etc. will hopefully inspire my students to see themselves as producers, creators, and innovators who have opportunities to own a business, as well as have a financially secure future.
