My Students

Remember having fun watching butterflies fly through the air or following ants to their anthill? Young children are always excited about insects! Kindergarten brings science closer to children's everyday lives and satisfies their curiosity about the living things in their surrounding environment.

My Elementary School is a small neighborhood school with wonderful, hard working and caring families.

Unfortunately, our school does not receive any extra state funds and my limited classroom budget does not have the necessary funds to purchase needed science materials. The Kindergarten students are amazing young children! Although my students come from diverse backgrounds with some children starting Kindergarten with limited experiences, they are always energetic, inquisitive and eager to learn.

My Project

Children are always curious about the world around them. Science is a fun and an exciting way to learn about the creepy crawly creatures in their environment. By creating a hands-on science center and making it available to all students, they will learn about insects through touching and making observations. The acrylic encased insects allow the students to touch and move it around to view the insects from all different angles. The children will enjoy using the view finders to observe insects in their natural surroundings. They will also have a fun time learning problem solving skills and spacial awareness skills when playing with the insect floor the puzzles.

With your generous donation, my Kindergarten students will not only learn about insects through a hands-on experience, they will be developing many life skills necessary in becoming a productive member of our community.

By using all the materials in the science center, my students will be practicing problem solving skills, making observations, using their curiosity as their starting point to learn about the things in their environment, cooperating in a group and respecting living things.
