Creepy Crawling Through SCIENCE!

Help me give my students a first hand experience in Life Science. We are asking for Owl Pellets, Terrariums and Insect habitats.

My Students

I am a special needs teachers in a low income, inner-city school district. My classroom consists of 12 amazing middle school-aged students, all diagnosed with a moderate disability, such as Autism, Intellectual disabilities, and Neurological disabilities. Their eagerness, and enthusiasm towards learning is not only contagious but inspiring as well, as despite the difficulties they endure on a daily basis, they still come to school, every day, ready and excited to learn. My students inspire and motivate me, not only to be a better teacher, but to become a better person as well.

My Project

My students LOVE learning about the world around them! They are particularly interested in learning about Life Science. Over the course of this school year, we have built a fish tank, fostered a baby turtle and watched tadpoles grow into adult frogs. With each new species that we bring into our classroom, we travel to the library to learn more about that particular species, and it never ceases to amaze me how much we learn from these classroom visitors! Did you know that the largest goldfish recorded was in the Netherlands, measuring 18.7 inches long? Wow!

We would love to continue to have fun learning about the life cycles of various species found throughout the world, and are asking for donations towards purchasing a classroom set of owl pellets, a worm terrarium, a compost compartment and, what might be the most exciting species to investigate yet, a self-sustaining miniature Eco tarium!
