My Students
Inspire wonder in our classroom! My five and six year old students would love to experience the magic of live insects and their life cycles. Being able to see the insects change is an experience the kids will never forget!
I teach kindergarten in a small neighborhood school in California.
My school community has suffered from the economic climate, and parents are unable to support the classroom as they would like to. Many of my students' parents are working two jobs to provide for their families and simply do not have the resources to fund projects in their child's classroom. Despite this, I feel that my students should be exposed to science in as many ways as possible. One of the ways that this can be accomplished is through obtaining live insects and watching these creatures go through their life cycles. This is truly a lesson that is never forgotten!
My Project
Imagine being five years old and seeing the world through a lens of wonder and excitement. I am surrounded by this curiosity and enthusiasm every day in my classroom. I believe that it is extremely important to nourish children's' natural desire to learn and what better way to do this than through science? Having live insects and related instructional materials in the classroom will enable my students to experience life cycles in a hands-on manner. Kindergarteners need to be able to use all five senses to fully understand their world. Having access to these insects and materials will be essential in teaching them the laws of nature.
Be the inspiration in my kindergarten classroom!
Learning through personal experience is very meaningful. By providing live insects and instructional materials for the classroom, you are enriching my students' educational experience.
